Short Working experience in KL branch; 7 months old…. With the intention to contribute a little in Seng Seng Construction (SSC) while I was pursuing my postgraduate studies MPhil. in University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) way back in year 2005 and 2006 on self sponsored basis.
During this period, I was staying with my 2nd uncle, Robert Tan Beng Kheng in his apartment at Menara Duta 2 around Segambut area.
Since late 2005, Robert has asked for my help in his K.L. office as a general admin clerk with a monthly salary of RM400 on a half day support basis. At that time, in my mind was whispering, since my BEng. Degree could not contribute directly in construction business, mind as well tried to learn construction business, got to know the staffs within S.S.C. K.L. branch as to gradually verify the actual situation of S.S.C. and wishfully able to locate the root cause to S.S.C.’s gradual downfall as to rectify it…
As obtaining verbal consent from him on my daily work schedule which starts in the early morning around 7am and ends around 3 – 4 pm in the afternoon. In order to void the peak traffic hours; a more relaxing traffic hours.
During that period, my cousin sister, Liza Tan, approached me for creating the official S.S.C. web site at www.ssc.com.my. Top up the photos supplied by her with my existing skills in Photoshop, the web site was successfully completed within a week period with no extra cost imposed besides my monthly salary payment.
At that time I was a frequent domestic flyer between K.L. & Penang as to transfer construction award cert. between HQ in Penang & K.L. office. From the transactions/interactions, I started to know a few staffs in the HQ whom could still remember my late mum/ her past contributions when she was alive.
As salary from S.S.C. could only support half of my car loan, I sticked on my part time job at a nearby shopping mall known as Sri Hartamas Shopping Centre. I was working in a new kiosk known as Tweetie selling Ice-cream snack food. By working on a part-time basis, it did help slightly to reduced my debts. With a joint saving with my bro’s savings, my debts were further reduced.
If my memory served me right, I frequently drove between K.L. and Penang during my early stay in K.L. as well as in the past years. These created a chance for me to return my gratitude to my aunts; Tan Guat Leng and Tan Chew Geok as well as my youngest uncle Tan Beng Teik and occasionally 2nd uncle Robert Tan Beng Kheng.
Along the driving trip, I picked up a few famous eat-out spot such as Low Wong in Ipoh, Ipoh White Coffee Initial kopitiam while my relatives paid off the tolls and petrol bill incurred throughout the journey plus whatever expenses long the way.
It was a norm for my relatives to have a shopping spree in Kuala Lumpur whenever Chinese New Year is around the corner. Have a week stay in Menara Duta 2. Even though it was suppose to be a holiday for my relatives; aunts and uncle, My aunt will be occupied with performing house /apartment cleaning process as there was no existing maid to do the job…

Incidences Before UK Trip (Flash back with help from immediate family mambers)
This topic will not be descriptive but would be presented in a bullet format as to minimize the unhappiness that I experienced before I left for UK…. Seeking reader’s understandings on this matter. Thanks in advanced.
When my mom, Late Tan Goay Joo, was still alive, my birthday will be celebrated meerily by inviting all my relatives. It was a merry situation for most of the people, except me, the birthday girl, for some reasons…. One might comment that I am odd but it just I don’t feel the joyfulness for some reason… I suppose I know why now… tough life ahead for me to face…

During my stay with my 2nd uncle, Robert Tan Beng Kheng, he found out that my relation with my father, Loh Cheng Leong was not in good terms and subsequently started to worsen it during my stay in K.L., naturally I was not aware of it until now…. :-S
A family meeting was held to announce the situation of SSC. as well as to obtain the consent from all family members to agree on using part of the sales profit of a property worth 6 millions to get another lodging… My memory on the meeting was gradually filled up by my father…. I was mad and was strongly against it! Even so, my father signed the agreement! :(
Participated in whatever parties held by my relatives; be it a Xmas party, Reunion dinner, birthday party etc. but never really blend in the group for years ever since my mum, Tan Goay Joo had passed on; probably due to indifferent view on expenditure, lifestyle etc… theirs, in my point of view is extravagant…. :-S
My last met up my eldest uncle, Dato’ Tan Beng Hwa was the week before I left for UK as a working holiday maker. Unfortunately it was held In Penang GMC as he was hospitalized. When I ask for his sponsorship of my UK trip, I was turned down indirectly by saying that5 Lengkok York requires a lot of financial support which caused me to suffered emotion turbulence at that moment…. And subsequently shut me off.

Return from UK
Experienced memory lost when first return from UK for some reasons…
I was only away for 1 and ½ years but have forgotten most of the road paths which I was familiar with before my UK trip!! Oh gosh!! What has happened???
On my second day in Penang, as my typical practice is to hand over the souvenir (a big box of Thornton chocolates which worthed around RM200) to my relatives or those stayed in my late grandparent’s lodging; 5, Lengkok York, Penang. Malaysia.
What surprised me was I found a group of relatives are already there; kind of an odd scene to me! I sort of feel the warm welcome back from them which I believe they didn’t even know my return....
As to show my gratitude to my 2nd aunt, I specially bought a small pack of coffee flavoured Thornton chocolate for her as she loves coffee a lot!; a typical drink for her daily afternoon tea time!
As my home; 48 premises, opt for timed broadband usage package, in order to save/minimize the usage, I brought along my laptop to make use of the unlimited broadband at 5 Lengkok York.
I shared with them my UK life/ photos etc. and also a possibility of setting up an E-commerce business in UK upon my return to UK which was scheduled on mid of Feb 2009. Everyone seems to be pleased with the news/ announcement!
Subsequently, in the mid afternoon, or after lunch, my cousin and her two children were leaving and she did pack some of the chocolates to take back with her on the ground that her children would like to have them back home.
My 5th uncle was then intended to visit 1-stop so was asking me to drive him there. Of course would be no problem for me as I’ve already planned to spend the entire afternoon over there after having been away for a while. From the short driving trip, I could confirmed that my memory has been entirely wipe out on the route that I used to use and my driving skills have degraded as well; as if a new learner…. :-S No worry, managed to arrive at the destination safely. Hurray on that! ;)
As it was only my 2nd day in Penang, I quickly get myself a prepaid credit as to facilitate me to make phone calls for a month as I would be leaving to UK by then.
On the return trip, due to my poor driving skills my cousin was wary and took over the driver role.
In short, I hardly have time left to use my laptop on that day….
